Auto major Volkswagen plans to launch its compact and also luxurious SUV Volkswagen Tiguan in India. Volkswagen Tiguan is based on Audi A5 platform and much luxurious in its segment. Volkswagen Tiguan is the new entry into the ever growing small SUV segment for Volkswagen. Volkswagen Tiguan was first showcased at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, and was debuted as a 2008 model for Europe. Volkswagen India plans to launch Volkswagen Tiguan in by the mid of this year and to compete with other SUVs of this segment like of Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour & the most awaiting Hyundai Santa Fe. The Volkswagen Tiguan price is not yet disclosed by the company but it is expected it will be priced around 20lacs.

Volkswagen Tiguan Description :Volkswagen Tiguan will be equipped with the 2.0L, turbo inline four-cylinder engine that is able to produce 200bhp power and 207lb-ft torque with the six speed manual or auto transmission option. The standard model of Volkswagen Tiguan has front-wheel drive option while an all wheel drive option will also be available. The well-assembled cabin of the Volkswagen Tiguan has an amazing combination of soft-touch and textured hard plastics. Volkswagen Tiguan is the small compact SUV, but is much spacious there is good room behind the 2nd row and enough headroom for a six feet taller person.

The active and passive safety features that are available in Volkswagen Tiguan includes ABS (Anti lock Braking System), traction control, anti-skid system, dual front and front side airbags, rear side airbags, and curtain side airbags in rear. Its three-point retractable seat belts is available for all seats. The belt force limiters is also available to reduce the impact of sudden braking to the chest. Its electronically activated belt tensioners in front seats insure that the optimal exploitation of the available safety zone. Other striking features that are available in Volkswagen Tiguan includes the navigation system with rearview camera, a fold-flat front passenger seat, a sunroof, and a 30GB harddisk to store data and digital audio files.
